PURPOSE: To obtain the titled crosslinked material having improved molding properties and thermal stability, by grafting a specific silane onto chlorinated polyethylene in the presence of a free radical initiator, antioxidant, and epoxy resin, followed by exposing the graft polymer to water.
CONSTITUTION: (A) (ii) A silane shown by the formula[R is monofunctional olefinic unsaturated group; Y is hydrolyzable organic group such as ≤6C alkoxy (alkoxy), etc.; R' is monofunctional hydrocarbon group having no aliphatic unsaturated bond, R, or Y]is grafted onto (i) chlorinated polyethylene in the presence of (iii) a free radical initiator having ≤6min half-life period at ≤140°C, (iv) an antioxidant having 3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxybenzyl group, containing neither hydroquinone group nor 4,4'-thiobisphenol group, and (v) epoxy compound at ≤140°C, and the reaction product is exposed to water in the presence of a silanol condensation catalyst, to give the desired crosslinked material.
