PURPOSE: To provide an economical method for the mass-production of uniformly foamed article which comprises foaming a prefoamed crosslinked particle, and heat- molding the foamed particle in a mold.
CONSTITUTION: A base resin made of a crosslinred ethylenic resin is foamed to 3-10 times the original size, and then, further foamed to 14-40 times the original size. The foamed and crosslinred particles (and if necessary together with foaming gas) are charged into a mold, and heat molded to an molded article. The crosslinked ethylenic resin foamed particles can be prepared e.g. by melt-extruding the ethylenic resin to a strand, crosslinking the strand by electron beam irradiaton, cutting the crosslinked strand to pellets, and impregnating the pellets with volatile organic foaming agent such as propane, pentane, etc
