Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as an intermediate of an antiphlogistic analgesic agent and antipyretic agent, in high conversion, selectivity, and yield, by the dehydrogenation of a cyclohexyl halobenzene derivative using a catalyst comprising an oxide containing tungsten and zirconium.
CONSTITUTION: A halobiphenyl derivative of formula II (R2 is alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl alkylcarbonyl, etc.; X is halogen) is prepared by the dehydrogenation of a cyclohexyl halobenzene of formula I (R1 is the same as R2) using a catalyst comprising an oxide containing tungsten and zirconium pref. supported on a refractory inorganic carrier (esp. pref. an oxide containing titanium, zirconium, iron or cerium).
