Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a high-impact styrene resin which is excellent not only in the balance among qualities including impact strength and moldability but also in surface gloss and colorability.
CONSTITUTION: The process comprises dissolving 2-30 pts.wt. styrene/butadiene block rubber in 70-98 pts.wt. styrene monomer or a mixture of a styrene monomer and a compound copolymerizable therewith, polymerizing the monomer(s), and adding thereto an azo compound while the rate of polymerization is 5-40%.
