Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain easily and inexpensively a highly alcohol-absorbing resin by polymerizing a monomer contg. specified cationic (meth)acrylic monomer as a main component in an aq. soln. in the presence of a crosslinking agent using a polymn. initiator. CONSTITUTION:In an aq. soln. contg. 30wt.% or more and below the saturation concn. of a polymerizable monomer contg. 90mol% or more cationic (meth) acrylic monomer contg. a tert. amino and/or quat. ammonium group, polymn. is performed in the presence of a crosslinking agent contg. two or more polymerizable ethylenically unsatd. bonds in its molecule using a water-soluble or water-compatible radical polymn. initiator to obtain the aimed resin. By this method an alcohol-absorbing resin with an excellent property of absorbing a 2C or relatively higher alcohol such as ethanol and n-propanol is obtd. easily and inexpensively.
