PURPOSE: To provide a preparation process for a supporting catalyst of monodispersed metallic particulates wherein a particle size is highly granulated and a particle size distribution is narrow.

CONSTITUTION: A process for preparation of a highly dispersed metallic fine particulate supporting catalyst is provided by adding propargyl alcohol to a soln. contg. a carrier on which metal-contg. ions and metal particles formed by reduction of metal-contg. ions are supported, supporting the reaction product of the metal-contg. ions and propargyl alcohol on the carrier, thereafter thermally treating the carrier in a reductive gas contg. hydrogen gas to reduce the reaction product of the metal-contg. ions and propargyl alcohol to metallic fine particles.
