PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound having excellent herbicidal activity even to perennial weeds, high selectivity, and sufficient residual activity, in one step, and in high yield, by reacting a dinitrodiphenyl ether compound with a hydrazine derivative.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula I (A and B are halogen, lower alkyl or halogen-substituted lower alkyl; C is H or lower alkyl; m and n are 0 or 1W3; m+ n=0W3) is made to react with the compound of formula II (R1 and R2 are H, alkyl, substituted alkyl, lower alkenyl, phenyl, etc.; R3 is alkoxycarbonyl, phenoxycarbonyl, carbamoyl, etc.) in the presence or absence of an inert solvent (e.g. ethanol, isopropanol, n-butanol, dioxane, etc.) to afford the titled compound of formula III. The amount of the compound of formula II is 0.1W50mol, pref. 1.0W10mol per 1mol of the compound of formula I.
