Title:
PREPARATION OF METALLIC CAN BONDED WITH SYNTHETIC RESIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5823869
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled can in which all materials for the can is usable and unattacked by the contents therein, by applying an adhesive of an aqueous dispersion prepared by neutralizing a specific olefinic copolymeric resin with a volatile base to a seaming part of the metallic can, drying the resultant coating, seaming the can, and heating the seamed can.

CONSTITUTION: An adhesive consisting of an aqueous dispersion obtained by neutralizing an olefinic copolymeric resin, e.g. a copolymer of 80mol% ≤10C aliphatic α-olefin, e.g. ethylene, with 1W20mol% α,β-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, e.g. acrylic acid, with a volatile base, e.g. ammonia, in an amount to give the neutralization degree of the copolymeric resin of 30W80%, essentially is applied to a seaming part of a metallic can to form a dried film of 0.8W0.5mm thickness, and the volatile base and water are then evaporated. The can is then seamed and bonded under heating preferably at 150W250°C to give the aimed metallic can.

EFFECT: The can preparation speed can be improved without requiring the flux cleaning step.
