Abstract:

To provide a high yield preparation method of substituted benzyl compounds and toluene derivatives by a simple style using very small amount of catalysts.

Substituted benzyl compounds and toluene derivatives are prepared by reaction of aromatic compound with organic boron compound by Suzuki model coupling reaction and reduction of its product. This method is especially useful for the preparation of ortho-substituted benzyl compounds and toluene derivatives and applicable for both inter and intramolecular coupling reaction. Catalysts used for the coupling reaction are palladium compounds and/or nickel compounds.
