PURPOSE: To prepare a vinyl chloride resin of good flexibility, strength characteristics, and oil resistance, having a good balance of 100% modulus value with tensile strength, by graft copolymerization of a specific alkyl acrylate to a vinyl chloride resin.
CONSTITUTION: The objective resin can be prepared by graft copolymerization, pref. through a radical polymerization process, of A) 35W900 parts by wt. of a 1W 4C alkyl acrylate, to B) 100 parts by wt. of a vinyl chloride resin (preferably, obtained by suspension polymerization, and having a polymerization degree of 800W1, 500). For the preparation of the objective resin, an aqueous suspension polymerization process is recommended, which is given below: the weight ratio of the sum of the vinyl chloride resin and the alkyl acrylate to water is made to be 1:1W1:3, and the polymerization is carried out in the presence of 0.01W1 part by wt. (based on 100 parts by wt. of the vinyl chloride resin) of a suspension stabilizer such as polyvinyl alcohol, a partially-saponified product thereof , etc.
