Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a monodisperse polymer particle having a particle diameter of several mum or larger with good productivity by using a specified water- miscible org. solvent as both a solvent for dissolving monomer and a dispersing medium for dispersing a nucleating substance or a seed polymer particle and feeding a water-contg. microcapsule made of a semipermeable membrane in the reaction system. CONSTITUTION:By using a water-miscible org. solvent which dissolves a monomer but does not dissolve its polymer or a mixture of water therewith as a solvent, a monomer, a nucleating substance or a seed polymer particle which is swollen by said monomer, a dispersing stabilizer and an oil-soluble polymn. initiator are dissolved or dispersed in said solvent. Then, by feeding a water- contg. microcapsule made of a semipermeable membrane in this dispersing system, oil drops consisting of oil-soluble substances such as the monomer and the polymn. initiators are formed around said nucleating substance as the center or the oil-soluble substances such as the monomer and the polymn. initiator are absorbed in said seed polymer particle, and the monomer contained in said oil drop or absorbed in the seed polymer particle is selectively polymerized.
