Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain naphtha in high yield from a product of a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis by bringing a hydrocarbon feed stock having a b.p. above the b.p. range of the naphtha unto contact with a platinum catalyst supported on SiO2-Al2O3, in the presence of hydrogen under elevated temp. and pressure.
CONSTITUTION: Naphtha is prepd. by high selectivity and accordingly high yield by bringing a hydrocarbon feed stock obtd. by a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis and comprising a fraction having a b.p. above the b.p. range of the naphtha into contact with a platinum catalyst prepd. by impregnating a silica-alumina carrier prepd. of an amorphous silica-alumina starting material having a pore vol. of 0.5-1.0 ml/g and a binder such as silica, alumina, clay, titania, magnesia and zirconia with a soln. contg. hexachloroplatinic acid with a pH of at most 4.0 in the presence of hydrogen at a temp. of 175-400°C under a pressure of 10-250 bar.
