PURPOSE: To prepare oil-containing pelletized coal from powdered coal and still- bottom oil, etc., at a low cost, by adding a low-boiling hydrocarbon and a high- boiling hydrocarbon which is solid at normal temperature and soluble in the low- boiling hydrocarbon to an aqueous slurry of coal powder, pelletizing the coal in water, and removing the low-boiling component with heat.
CONSTITUTION: A liquid hydrocarbon oil mixture is prepared by mixing a low- boiling hydrocarbon oil with a high-boiling hydrocarbon oil which is solid or pasty at normal temperature and soluble in the low-boiling oil, and dissolving the high-boiling oil in the low-boiling oil. The mixture is vigorously stirred and mixed with an aqueous slurry containing coal powder in a high-speed mixer, and sent through the inlet 11 to the pelletizer 1 having three stirring blades 4W6 attached to a rotary shaft placed at the center of the horizontal cylindrical casing 2 to effect the underwater pelletization. After the pelletization, the pellets are extracted through the outlet 12, separated from water, and heated to evaporate the low-boiling hydrocarbon oil and obtain the objective oil-containing pelletized coal composed of the high-boiling hydrocarbon oil and the coal powder.
