Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve the durability of a ship hull, and to prevent the fouling of the hull with aquatic life, by the use of an anti-fouling paint containing a copolymer of 2-hydroxyethyl (meth)acrylate and an ester of (meth)acrylic acid.
CONSTITUTION: An anti-fouling paint composed of (A) a resin varnish prepared by copolymerizing (a) 2-hydroxyethyl (meth)acrylate and (b) an ester of (meth)acrylic acid such as butyl acrylate in a solution, and dissolving the copolymer in a solvent such as ethylene glycol monobutyl ether, and (B) tricresyl phosphate, cuprous oxide, an organo-tin compound, red oxide, talc, etc.
