To provide a method to prepare particles with an extremely uniform particle size distribution required for particles like toner particles.
The preparation method of a particle comprises a step to prepare a polymerization system by dissolving in a polymerization solvent a polymerizable monomer which is soluble in the polymerization solvent and whose resultant polymer is insoluble in the polymerization solvent and a polymer composition soluble in the polymerization solvent; and a step to polymerize the polymerizable monomer in the polymerization system in the presence of a polymerization initiator at a polymerization temperature of 50-100°C to precipitate a particle to obtain a polymer particle, wherein the polymerization system is transparent when heating starts and becomes whitish due to the precipitation of the particle while the system is heated to the polymerization temperature and the difference between the temperature at which the polymerization system becomes whitish, T1, and the polymerization temperature, T2, satisfies the following relationship: 5≤(T2-T1)≤20.
