Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject phospholipid carrier that selectively reacts with a low density lipoprotein by mixing a cholesterol and a phospholipid at a specific molar ratio in the presence of a negatively charged lipid in an organic solvent, then removing the solvent, adding a buffer solution and treating the resulting product with ultrasonic waves. CONSTITUTION: In the presence of a negatively charged lipid, dicetyl phosphate or an anionic surfactant, cholesterol and phospholipid are mixed at a molar ratio of (1-2)/1 the former/the latter in an organic solvent, then the organic solvent is removed and a buffer solution is added to the remaining mixture. The resultant dispersion is treated with ultrasonic wave, the product is isolated whereby a Phospholipid carrier for cholesterol and its metabolite is obtained that is useful as a direct transporting means for cholesterol and its metabolite to biological tissues (particularly into cell membranes of the peripheral organs) in experimental biology and medical science particularly oncology and immunology and shows cytostatic activity with no toxicity having ability to mutually act on a low density lipoprotein in high selectivity.
