PURPOSE: To obtain the titled eraser having improved strength and erasing properties, by blending a plastic eraser rubber base material consisting of a resin and a plasticizer as main ingredients with a polymerizable vinyl monomer, followed by gelation under heating.

CONSTITUTION: A rubber eraser base material consisting of a resin (polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl acetate, etc.), and a plasticizer as main ingredients is blended with a polymerizable vinyl monomer having two or more double bonds in one molecule, and gelatinized under heating. A methcrylate, e.g. trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate, a polyfunctional acrylate, e.g., ethylene glycol diacrylate, etc., dially phthalate, etc. is used as the polymerizable monomer. The use of a polymerization initiator together with the monomer widens the possible use range of the monomer and stortens the time required for the polymerization.
