PURPOSE: To obtain a polyolefin wax which has a low residual ash content without forming deposition on a wall by removing the heat of reaction by evaporative cooling in the suspension (co)polymn. of a (di)olefin in a low-boiling hydrocarbon and in the presence of a metallocene catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: The objective product is obtd. by the suspension (co)polymn. of a (di)olefin in a low-boiling 3-4C (halogenated) hydrocarbon (pref. propane) in the presence of a catalys comprising a metallocene of the formula (wherein M1 is a metal of group IVb, Vb, or VIb of the Periodic Table of Elements; R1 and R2 are each H, a 1-10C alkyl, or the like; and R3 and R4 are each a mononuclear or polynuclear hydrocarbon residue) [pref. bis(cyclopentadienyl) zirconium dichloride or the like] and a cocatalyst (pref. an aluminoxane or the like) at a temp. of -40°C to 95°C under a pressure of 0.5-120 bar while removing the heat of reaction by evaporative cooling.
