Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prepare prostaglandin analogs having a desired stereoform in a single reaction vessel with high yield.
CONSTITUTION: A process for preparing a prostaglandin derivative comprises reacting an alkyne with zirconocene hydride chloride to produce a zirconium intermediate, reacting the intermediate with an alkyllithium and a cwprovs reagent selected from R2Cu(CN)Li or a mixture of CuCN and R2Li (R2 is an alkyl, substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl or heterocyclic aromatic group) to produce higher order copper complex salt intermediate, and reacting the higher order copper complex salt intermediate with cyclopentenone.
