PURPOSE: To obtain pulplike particles, useful for synthetic paper, frictional materials, etc. industrially and advantageously, by reducing the viscosity of an aromatic polymeric solution with potassium titanate fibers and titanium oxide fibers of specific shape.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 20W80wt% potassium titanate fibers and/or titanium oxide fibers, having a ratio (L/D) between the average length (L) and the average diameter (D)≤15, preferably ≤5, and expressed by the formula K2O.nTiO2 (n is 2W8) are preferably incorporated in a solution consisting of (B) an aromatic polymer having the heat resistance, preferably polymetaphenylene isophthalamide, in a solvent, e.g. N-methyl-2-pyroolidone. The mixture solution is then introduced into a precipitating agent, e.g. an aqueous solution, to give the aimed particles in which the fibrous surfaces are coated with the polymer and connected.
EFFECT: Improved heat resistance, flame resistance, etc.
USE: An electrical insulating material, interior finish material etc.
