PURPOSE: To prepare ring opening polymers in high yields by the ring opening polymerization of norbornene derivatives, etc. in the presence of catalysts obtained from (A) specific organometal compounds, (B) reaction products of oxides of W and/or Mo and Lewis acids, and (C) metal oxides, capable of containuing polymerization for a long time.
