PURPOSE: In preparing a solid urea resin by dehydrating a precondensate syrup of urea resin, to obtain a resin providing a molded article having low shrinkage by a simple process at low cost, by dispersing a specific water absorbent to the syrup with a specific water content.

CONSTITUTION: Preferably 0.5W5wt% acrylic high polymer absorbent based on solid urea resin is added to a precondensate syrup of urea resin having 13W 25wt% charge water, stirred and uniformly dispersed, and the syrup is dehydrated. It is then cooled and solidified to give a solid urea resin.
