Title:
PREPARATION OF SORBITOL USING MICROORGANISMS BELONGING TO HANSENULA GENUS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5982089
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prepare sorbitol in high efficiency, by culturing microorganisms belonging to Hansenula genus in pentose, and treating glucose with the obtained living microbial cels, cell extract, etc. in the presence of NADPH.

CONSTITUTION: A microbial strain belonging to Hansenula genus, e.g. Hansenula anomala IAM 12210, Hansenula polymorpha IFO 1071, etc. is cultured aerobically in a liquid medium containing 2W15% of pentose such as D-xylose, D-arabinose, D-ribose, etc. as a carbon source. The obtained living cells, treated cells, dinintegrated cells, cell extract, or their mixture is added to 1W60% glucose solution, and made to react with each other at 10W60°C in the presence of 0.1mMW20mol of reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate per 1mol of glucose.
