PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain the particles in high yield useful for the preparation or the like of a catalyst or the like for the polymerization of α-olefins by spray-drying and decarboxylating a solution of the specified magnesium alkoxide.
CONSTITUTION: The target particles with the volume average particle diameter smaller than 10 μm are obtained by spraying an alcoholic (ROH) solution of the corresponding carboxylated magnesium alkoxide of Mg(OR)2.xCO2 (x is 0.2 to 2.0) via a two-material nozzle with inner atomization which is operated in the part-load range at 5 to 30% of its capacity into an inert accompanying gas under a pressure of 1.0 to 1.2 bar, preheating it to 100 to 140°C, allowing it cocurrently to feed and then drying and decarboxylating the resulting finely divided carboxylated magnesium alkoxide.
