Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a process for preparing a sulfated chitosan having high purity and high viscosity and being useful in the fields of pharmaceutical and cosmetic preparations, etc., easily at a low cost through a simplified refining step.
CONSTITUTION: Regenerated chitosan botd. by neutralizing an aq. acid soln. of chitosan in a polar solvent capable of solubilizing an SO3-trialkylamine complex without decomposition thereof is reacted with the SO3-trialkylamine complex to selectively sulbate the C-3 and C-6 hydroxyl groups of chitosan.
