Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide novel additive oil compositions and lubricating oil compositions which contain a sulfurized molybdenum amide complex having low residual active sulfur.SOLUTION: The invention is directed to oil-soluble additive compositions produced by a process including: reacting an acidic molybdenum compound with an amide derived from a carboxylic acid component and a polyamine component in a ratio from 2:1 to 1:1; thereafter sulfurizing to provide an oil-soluble sulfurized molybdenum and an active sulfur; and subsequently treating it with at least one compound reacting with the active sulfur of step b). The invention is also directed to lubricating oil compositions including the compositions.
