PURPOSE: To prepare uridine diphosphate-N-acetylgalactosamine with a high efficiency, by isomerizing uridine diphosphate-N-acetylglucosamine with an enzyme, e.g. uridine diphosphate-N-acetylglucosamine-4-epimerase, and decomposing the remaining unreacted raw material with an enzume, e.g. uridine diphosphate-N- acetylglucosamine pyrophosphorylase.
CONSTITUTION: Uridine diphosphate-N-acetylglucosamine is converted into urdine diphosphate-N-acetylgalactosamine with uridine diphosphate-N-acetylglucosamine- 4-epimerase by the conventional method, and the resultant reaction solution is then reacted with uridine diphosphate-N-acetylglucosamine pyrophosphorylase prepared from Staphylococcus aureus or baker's yeast, etc. to decompose the remaining uridine diphosphate-N-acetylglucosamine.
