PURPOSE: To obtain the titled copolymer suitable for powder molding, by subjecting a mixture of a specific amount of a vinyl chloride monomer and a specified amount of an alkyl vinyl ether monomer to suspension polymerization in the presence of a dispersant and a surface active agent, treating the prepared polymer with an enzyme to hydrolyze cellulose.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture of 99W95wt% vinyl chloride monomer and 1W5wt% alkyl vinyl ether monomer (e.g., methyl vinyl ether, etc.) are subjected to suspension polymerization in the presence of a cellulosic dispersant (e.g., methyl cellulose, etc) and a nonionic surface active agent (e.g., sorbitan monolaurate, etc.) by the use of a polymerization initiator (e.g., benzoyl peroxide, etc.), and, if necessary, a chain transfer agent, pH adjustor, etc. The prepared polymer is treated with an enzyme (e.g., β-1,4-glucan-4-glucanohydrase, etc.), to give the desired copolymer.
EFFECT: Having improved plasticizer absorption characteristics, melting properties, thermal stability, and strength when processed into a molded article.
