PURPOSE: To prepare a water dispersion paint having excellent stability and capable of giving an extremely thin coating film, by slurrifying an epoxy resin solution using a water-soluble acrylic oligomer as a dispersion stabilizer.
CONSTITUTION: A water-soluble acrylic oligomer having a terminal alkylthio group is dissolved in water as a dispersion stabilizer, and an epoxy resin solution or an epoxy resin paint solution obtained by using a solvent which is insoluble or slightly soluble in water, is dispersed in the above aqueous solution. The solvent is removed from the dispersion to obtain a slurry of fine powders, from which the desired water dispersion paint is prepared. To attain the fine and stable dispersion of the epoxy resin solution in water, the use of a high-speed mixer is recommended.
