PURPOSE: The titled prepared nutritious substance, containing soybean protein or a partial hydrolyzate thereof which is a natural proteinic substance with a low content of methionine as a main amino acid source, and easily drinkable without an offensive taste nor smell.
CONSTITUTION: A prepared nutrious substance, obtained by incorporating a nitrogen compound adjusted to give the composition of amino acids shown in the table on decomposition of soybean proteins by the fortification of cystine or addition of a small amount of tryptophan with soybean proteins or a partial hydrolyzate thereof as a main amino acid source, and having the composition optimal for the treatment and nutritious supply source to infants with homocystinuria which is a coloboma of enzymes capable of synthesizing cystathionine in the brain or liver. Preferably, the content of the nitrogen compound in the resultant prepared substance is 12W15wt%, and the so-called separated soybean protein obtained by adjusting the pH of soybean milk to 4.0W4.2, and separating and drying the precipitated substance at the isoelectric point is preferably used as the soybean protein.
