To provide a method which prevents an unreacted alkylene oxide remaining in a resin catalyst from polymerizing and solidifying during the preservation and, therefore, enables the stable and long-term preservation of the resin catalyst when the resin catalyst which is used in the reaction is recovered and, thereafter, is preserved for reusing the same in a process of producing an addition reaction product by subjecting an alkylene oxide and material to be added to the addition reaction in the presence of the resin catalyst and to provide its use.
The resin catalyst which is used for the reaction and is recovered is preserved under any condition among (1) a low temperature ≤40°C, (2) the presence of a carboxylic acid, (3) the presence of a liquid of alkylene oxide concentration of ≤2 wt.% or (4) the coexistence of carboxylic acid and the liquid of alkylene oxide concentration ≤2 wt.%. In addition, this catalyst is reused for the addition reaction.
