Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an inexpensive preshaving cosmetic which imparts dry and pleasant feel during and after shaving with no white leaving and causes reduced skin irritation and environmental pollution on application.
CONSTITUTION: The preshaving cosmetic comprises (A) 0.1 to 30wt.% of freely flowable powder of not gelling starch derivative of a reaction product from a compound containing polyvalent metal ions and a substituted dicarboxylic acid of the formula I (R is dimethylene, trimethylene; R' is alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl, aralkenyl; R and R' may cooperate to form a ring or may connected via an ether or ester linkage to each other), and (B) more than 30wt.% of a volatile substance, preferably having lower than 300°C, preferably lower than 50°C at which the vapor pressure reaches 60mmHg. The compound of the formula I is obtained by treating starch with a substituted cyclic dicarboxylic anhydride of the formula II.
