Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make performable a press work without applying a large pressure to dies, and make formable a sewing machine needle into a desired cross sectional shape at high precision by constituting upper and lower dies and right and left dies in a manner to be driven in the joining/separating directions to/from a press center when the sewing machine needle is formed of a needle raw material comprising a metal drawn wire.
SOLUTION: An upper die 11a and a lower die 11b are arranged in a manner to be confronted in the vertical direction to a press center O, and at the same time, a left die 12a and a right die 12b are mutually counterpoised in the lateral direction to the press center O. On the press center O sides of the upper and lower dies 11 and the tight and left dies 12, press surfaces 11c and 11d, 12c and 12c forming the shape of a sewing machine needle are respectively formed. Then, under a state wherein one end section (stem section) of a needle raw material 1 is gripped by a gripping section, the needle raw material 1 is arranged in such a manner that the axial center of the needle raw material 1 may be adjusted to the press center O, and then, a driving means is driven, and an end surface cam is rotated, and thus, a chuck is moved in the diameter-reducing direction, and the upper and lower dies 11 and the right and left dies 12 are made to approach each other to the press center O side to press-work the needle raw material.
