PURPOSE: To prevent an offset and to improve the durability of a roller surface, by performing an electroless composite plating contg. fine particles of a hard material on the surface of a press roller at a side which is brought into contact with a sheet surface having a formed toner image.

CONSTITUTION: In a press fixation device, a sheet 3 having a toner image 4 on a surface is passed between a couple of press rollers 1 and 2 pressed to each other and turning in the direction shown by arrows respectively, and consequently the toner image 4 is press-fixed on the sheet 3. Then, an electroless composite plating 5 contg. fine particles of a hard material is performed on only the surface of the press roller 1 made of steel at the side which is brought into contact with the toner image 4. Thus, the electroless composite plating is performed to form fine unevenness on the roller surface, and consequently while an offset is prevented, dull-finish effect is obtained and the durability of the roller is improved.
