This apparatus includes: a material characteristic input means for inputting at least one of the following material characteristics: thickness, yield stress, 0.2%-proof stress, tensile strength, elongation, n-value, r-value, stress-strain relation equation, hardness, temperature, surface roughness, coefficient of friction and thickness of lubricant film; a state amount detection means for measuring at least one of the following state amounts: punch reaction during forming work, metal mold temperature, metal mold distortion amount, workpiece deformation amount and workpiece temperature; a processing condition calculation means for calculating at least one of the following processing conditions from the material characteristic inputted by the material characteristic input means and the state amount during formation measured by the state amount detection means: forming speed, hold-down force and metal mold temperature; and a processing condition control means for controlling at least one of the punch or die movement speed, temperature and the hold-down force on the basis of the processing conditions calculated by the processing condition calculation means.
