The press machine 1 capable of placing a press panel W on an upper die 2 in applying press work between the upper die 2 and a lower die 3 is provided with a support claw 4 moving forward/backward and provided on the outside of the press panel W placed on the lower surface 21; pads 53, 54 capable of adsorbing the press panel W from the lower part on the tips of movable arm portions 52, 62; and material handling robots 5, 6 movable while adsorbing the press panel W using the adsorbing pads 53, 54. In the press machine, the material handling robots 5, 6 position the press panel W at the lower surface 21, the support claw 4 supports the press panel W until the press work is executed between the upper die 2 and the lower die 3 and retracts, the support claw 4 expands again after press work is completed and supports the press panel W, the material handling robot 6 adsorbs and supports the press panel W from the upper die 2, and moves it after the support claw 4 retracts.
