PURPOSE: To perform a good vertical bending and composite bending and to improve the quality of products by surely supporting a plate shaped stock with a lower die and a rotary cam at the time of vertical bending.

CONSTITUTION: In a press method wherein an end part of the plate shaped stock W is vertically bent using an upper die 18, the lower die 12 and the rotary cam 14 mounted in a freely rotatable state within a given range against the lower die and successively the composite bending is performed until obtaining a prescribed angle, before vertically bending the plate shaped stock W, the rotary cam 14 is held not so as to relatively rotate and twist against the lower die 12. Accordingly, even though the rotary cam 14 is pushed down by the upper die 18 in the case of vertically bending the plate shaped stock W, the rotary cam 14 is not relatively rotated against the lower die 12 and is not also twisted. By this method, the plate shaped stock W is surely supported by the lower die 12 and the rotary cam 14 at the time of the vertical bending.
