PURPOSE: To assemble a molding ring having transferring plane axially crossing with core at right angle around the optical face of lens molded and facilitate transferring of standard plane, by providing the molding ring around convex lens transferring curved face formed on the core.

CONSTITUTION: 12 shows a lower mold and a core 13a is provided in an upper mold 11. In lower end face of the core 13 shown in the Figure, convex lens transferring curved face 13a is formed. A molding ring 4 is mounted around the end of the core 13 and transferring plane 14a is formed on lower face of the molding ring. The transferring plane 14a of the molding ring 14a continues to convex lens transferring curved face 13a without gap. In the molding process of the lens, a glass material softened by heating is fed between cores 13 and 16 and either one or both of the cores 13 and 16 is subjected to pressure applying action and the glass material is press molded to lens by lens transferring curbed face 13a and 16a and transferring plane 14a.
