To provide a burner structure wherein combustion is performed with short flames by improving the combustion characteristics of a pressure atomizing oil burning appliance.
A bottomed heat chamber 3 of cylindrical shape having a number of air supply holes 3a on its side wall is disposed in a blast cylinder 2 for blowing combustion air therethrough with a combustion fan 1. A fuel inlet 4 provided at the center of the bottom plate of the heat chamber 3 is confronted with a fuel atomizing nozzle 7 to supply fuel, which has been atomized by a discharge pressure of a fuel pump 6, to the heat chamber 3. A swirl vane 5 is provided around the inlet 4 to form a swirling airflow in the heat chamber 3. The air supply holes 3a are arranged so as to have a small interval between them along the swirling direction, and to have a large interval between them in the lateral direction, thereby constituting an oblique small-hole row 8. In this way, flames are dispersed to the vicinity of the side wall of the heat chamber 3, and thus stable combustion of short flames can be achieved.
