PURPOSE: To prevent reverse transfer of an image and to obtain the sharp image by cooling a photosensitive pressure-sensitive recording medium directly or indirectly.

CONSTITUTION: Color developing paper 12 in a color developing paper cassette 13 is supplied via a paper feed roller 14 and conveying roller 15 provided on a delivery side of the cassette 13 onto a photosensitive sheet P moved from an exposing position when the sheet P is exposed. The paper 12 which is held superposed on the sheet P is then passed between press rollers 8. The microcapsules in the unexposed part are broken when a pressure is exerted to the sheet by the rollers 8 in the state. The dye precursor included in the capsules is then exposed to react with the color developing agent on the paper 12 and the image is fixed on the color developing agent sheet 12. Since the rollers 8 are held cooled by a cooling liquid 21 at this time, both the sheet P and the paper 12 are cooled by the rollers 8. The adverse influence of heat on the image to be fixed onto the sheet 12, i.e., the reverse transfer of the image from the paper 12 are thereby prevented.
