This electric power type pressure sensor 3 is constituted so that a pressure sensing variable resistance element 35 and an external electrode 37 are coaxially arranged around a center electrode 33 and the outermost circumference is covered with a heat insulating coating 39. The element 35 made of silicone rubber in which carbon particles and metal powder of higher mixing rate than that of a customary one are mixed, and the resistance value at no pressing is set lower than the pressure sensing variable resistance element of a customary pressure sensor, so that the resistance value per 1m is in the range 2-1000ohm. By covering the sensor 3 with the heat insulating coating 39, the heat insulating efficiency is improved and the heat insulating performance becomes favorable. Hence, in addition to that the inner element 35 is hardly influenced from the circumferential temperature, the power consumption can be restrained compared with one without the coating 39, when current is carried in the sensor 3 and fixed temperature is intended to be held.
