Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To presume and evaluate the rate of utilization of an active material powder by preparing various sorts of active material powder for plotting analytical curves of such a structure that the surfaces of nickel hydroxide particles are covered with cobalt compound, plotting analytical curves to exhibit the relationship between the specific electroconductivity of each sort of powder and its rate of utilization, determining the specific electroconductivity of the applicable powder, and making reference to the corresponding analytical curve. SOLUTION: Composite particles are formed in such a structure that the surfaces of nickel hydroxide particles are covered with cobalt compound containing sodium, and from these particles, various sorts of active material powder for plotting analyrical curves are prepared. A specific pressure of 400kgf/cm<2> is applied to a sample S through jigs 2, 3 of a specific electroconductivity measuring device M, and the electric resistance R of the sample S of one gram is measured by a resistance meter 5, and thereupon the specific electroconductivity of each sort of powder is calculated. Then an Ni-Cd storage battery is assembled, and the actual rate of utilization of each sort of powder at the tenth cycle of charging and discharging is determined, and the analytical curve for the rate of utilization and specific electroconductivity is plotted. The specific electroconductivities of different sorts of active material powder are measured by the device M, and the presumed rate of utilization is determined by making reference to the corresponding analytical curve.
