Title:
PRETREATMENT OF ADSORBER FOR SEAWATER URANIUM REVOVERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS54137492
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: A magnetic uranium adsorber is, before seawater contact, trapped by a high-gradient magnetic separator, and then dispersed into seawater, thereby to enhance the recorvery ratio of the magnetic adsorber to about 100%.

CONSTITUTION: A Ti-Fe based complex magnetic adsorber is prepared by mixing ferrous and titanium solutions with alkaline solution to produce a magnetic adsorber precipitate. The precipitate is air dried, crushed, screened to obtain 20 to 40 μm, which is dispersed into water and trapped by a high-gradient magnetic separator. The separator is demagnetized to release the magnetic adsorber, which is fed into seawater as the adsorber in seawater U recovery plant. As shown in the figure, such treated magnetic granule recovery is about 100% as A, whereas a magnetic grain not treated by the high-gradient magnetic separator is trapped about 90% as B, and the rest 10% is lost.
