To provide a pretreatment method and apparatus of extraction residue capable of improving decomposition efficiency of an organic material and a residue reducing rate in methane fermentation by crushing the extraction residue occurring from soft drink producing process such as coffee grounds and tea grounds so as not to cause a trouble such as clogging.

In the pretreatment method of extraction residue for crushing the extraction residue occurring from soft drink producing process and using the crushed extraction residue for the organic fermentation according to microorganisms such as methane fermentation, the extraction residue 11 is mixed with a diluent 21 and, thereafter, is crushed through coarse crushing 3 and fine crushing 4, particularly the coarse crushing of one time and the fine crushing of one time or more. Therein, the diluent can be selected from one or more of water, industrial waste water, sewage, human waste, cow excreta, hog excreta, excessive sludge produced by treatment thereof, waste drink, excessive raw material produced in soft drink producing process and fermentation residue liquid produced from a fermentation apparatus after crushing or the dewatered and separated liquid.
