PURPOSE: The titled preventing agent and/or remedy, containing a specific aminophenol derivative including a novel compound as an active constituent, and having an inhibitory activity against 5-lipoxygenase or simultaneously against cyclooxygenase.
CONSTITUTION: A preventing agent and/or remedy containing a compound of formulaI[R2 and R3 are H; R1 is halogen, 1W12C alkyl, 1W4C acyl, amino group substituted by 2W5C acyl or formula II (Z is carbonyl, sulfonyl, O,etc.; R4 is H or 1W4C alkyl; n is an integer 1W3); R1 and R2 are tetramethylenes; R3 is H; or R1 and R2 are H; R3 is 2-benzothiazolyl]or an acid addition salt thereof, e.g. 2-amino-4-chlorophenol or 3-amino-4-hydroxybenzophenone, as an active constituent. The preventing agent or remedy or both are effective for preventing and treating allergic diseases of the bronchi or lungs, allergic shocks or various allergic inflammations or various inflammations caused by prostaglandin (PG) in mammals including humans.
