To prepare a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or reducing the loss of tissue vitality caused by adhesion of neutrophils to endothelial cells in a patient having a tissue injury by using dehydroepiandrosterone-3-sulfate or the like.
A compound represented by the formula (X is H or a halogen; R1 to R3 are each O, OH, SH, H, a halogen, an ester, a thioester, an ether, a thioether, an inorganic ester, monosaccharides, disaccharides, spirooxirane, spirothirane or the like, with the proviso that R3 is not H or OH when R2 is O or OH and R1 is OH, the ester or ether and that R1 and 2 are both not O) (e.g. dehydroepiandrosterone-3-sulfate) is used to thereby prepare a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or reducing the loss of tissue vitality caused by adhesion of neutrophils to endothelial cells in a patient having a tissue injury, bacterial translocation, adult respiratory distress syndrome, reperfusion injury, traumatic injury, myocardial infarction or the like.
