PREVENTION OF RUNBACK OF TWIST IN AIR JET TYPE LOOM AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent the runback of twist in a weft yarn by holding the weft yarn emerging from the tip of a picking nozzle just after stopping an air jet loom during the stop of the loom and releasing the holding state just before starting the loom.
SOLUTION: When an air jet loom is stopped due to the occurrence of defective picking or warp yarn breakage, etc., a weft yarn 2 is unwound from a yarn length measuring and storing device of a picking device 60 with a controlling part and an air jetting nozzle 20 constituting a weft yarn guide member is operated to guide the weft yarn 2 to a weft yarn holding member 10 and held therewith. The holding state is maintained during the stop of the loom. A weft yarn cutting member 30 is then operated just before starting the loom to cut the weft yarn 2 between a picking nozzle 15 and the weft yarn holding member 10 to release the holding state and restart the picking.
