Title:
PREVENTION OF VISCOSITY-LOWERING OF WATERSOLUBLE POLYMER POWDER, PRESERVATION OF THE POWDER, AND PREVENTION OF CAKING OF THE POWDER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3724185
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent lowering of a viscosity of an aqueous solution of a water- soluble polymer powder when leaving, transporting and preserving the water-soluble polymer powder, and caking and clinging of the water-soluble polymer powder, and further to provide the water-soluble polymer powder having extremely good properties when used as a coagulant, an enhancer of a paper strength, a dye additive or the like.
SOLUTION: An amount of a volatile component of a water-soluble polymer powder composed of N-vinylcarboxylic amide as a monomer component and measured by the following method is regulated so as to be ≤7.0 wt.% to prevent the lowering of the viscosity of an aqueous solution thereof, preserve the water- soluble polymer powder for a long period and prevent the water-soluble polymer powder from caking for a long period: a sample (the water-soluble polymer) of 2,000 g is accurately weighed in a weighing bottle, inserted into a dryer at 110°C, taken out after 2.0 hr, cooled in a desiccator for 30 min, and weighed, and the decreased weight of the volatile component is divided by the weight of the sample, and the value is expressed by wt.%.
