Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the edge build-up of a coiling steel sheet by crushing the thick plating parts at the edges of the electroplated steel sheet by masher rolls then removing mechanically the plating deposits projecting from the end faces of the edge. CONSTITUTION:After the steel sheet 1 is electroplated, the thick plating part 2 formed at each edge of the steel sheet is supported by a roll 4 from below and is crushed by the masher roll 3, by which said part is flattened. The range where the build-up part 2 of the plating is generated is about 10mm from the end face of each edge and the range l for the above-mentioned crushing is enough with about 30mm from the end face of the edge at the largest. The plating deposits 2' projecting from the end face of the edge are crushed by the above-mentioned crushing and are scraped away by a scraper 5 disposed on the down stream of the roll 3. The edge plating parts are flattened and therefore the edge build-up of the steel sheet 1 is effectively averted in the stage of coiling the sheet 1 after the above-mentioned treatment.
