To prepare a preventive or remedy for cararacta caused by a lesion of oxidation, etc., capable of manifesting a sufficient preventive or curative effect on the cararacta by using a specific oligomer as an active ingredient.
This preventive or remedy for cararacta is prepared by formulating a proanthocyanidin oligomer, especially at least one kind selected from di- to triacontamer having flavan-3,4-diol of the formula (R1 is H or hydroxyl; R2 to R4 are each H, hydroxyl or methoxyl; R5 is H, galloyl or glycopyranosyl) as a constituent unit. An extract obtained by extracting a seed, a pericarp or strained lees of a fruit of a grape is preferably used as the proanthocyanidin oligomer. The oligomer is administered in a daily dose of about 0.01-1,000mg/ adult in one portion in the case of injection and is administered in several portions of about 0.1-4,000mg/adult per day in the case of an oral dose.
